Hello!
My name is Petr Dedkovskiy, and I’m a photographer.
I was born and raised in the glorious city of Moscow. Many people consider that a great advantage in life. I’m not so sure about that.))
When I was 10, I was given my first camera — a Smena 8M, a good old Soviet point-and-shoot. Simple and reliable, like a Kalashnikov.
It did have one little problem, though! Getting the photos out of it was a whole ritual — definitely more than one dance around the fire was required!)) So I had to learn the technical side of photography.
Well, you get the idea — I managed to figure that out too!
Then came university, which I soon dropped out of. I started working at a radio center as a security guard, and later moved to a clothing factory. That’s where I picked up a lot of ideas for another one of my hobbies.
Before I knew it, I was making clothes to order.)))
Then came 1998 — the Russian financial crisis. I changed careers and threw myself headfirst into show business.
Eventually, I became a lighting designer. I learned how to place huge lights, where to point them, and how to make the whole thing look good. And in the end, everyone said, «WOW!»
In early 2011, I bought my first digital SLR, and my long-standing love for photography came back to life.
Around the same time, Instagram appeared, and I joined it. You can actually scroll all the way back to the beginning and take a nostalgic look at where it all started.
I became fascinated with landscape photography. Eventually, I became a finalist in several photography competitions and made it into the Top 100 landscape photographers in Moscow.
At the same time, I returned to portrait photography.
So, what does all of that mean for you?
After many years of working with different types of lighting, I know how to emphasize your strengths and minimize what you may consider imperfections — whether we’re using studio equipment or natural light outdoors.
I know where to put your hands and feet, and how to guide you into a natural-looking pose. Posing is not a problem.Even though it’s something that scares a lot of people.))
Color grading and retouching? Yep, that’s part of the job too. I think that one is pretty obvious.))
And then there are all the little things that can make a photoshoot much easier and more enjoyable — advice on what to wear, help with choosing a style, and all those other details that help bring the whole idea together.
